Marylou’s artistic path began as most people’s do… in childhood. There was always an intense pull towards the creative side and this has sustained her well into her adult life. She is mostly self- taught, although she attended both Delta and Sierra Colleges in California, majoring in art. Her work is intuitive in nature and throughout the years she has created a style that is uniquely her own.
Recently, Marylou’s art was featured in “Somerset Studio” Magazine as well as the American Art Collector-Western States (2005 issue).
Artist's Statement
Marylou Falstreau’s art can best be described as interpretive, personal, and joyful. Her work is filled with pattern, vibrant color, and texture and is typically narrative in nature. Keeping in mind the common threads that unite us as ” human beings” , she creates a feeling or mood that the viewer can identify with, or be challenged by.
